Far-left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) announced on Monday that she plans to file articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to exonerate him.

“The Supreme Court has become engulfed in a corruption crisis that is out of control,” Sen. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wrote on X. “Today’s ruling is an attack on American democracy. It is the responsibility of Congress to protect our country from this authoritarian rule. I will be introducing articles of impeachment when I return.”

Her announcement came after the Supreme Court ruled by a 6-3 vote that the president has absolute immunity for “official business” performed while in office.

Members of the “Squad” have already been leading critics of the Supreme Court over the past few years.

AOC has previously proposed impeaching the Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, accusing them of lying about their positions on abortion when appointed.

However, impeachment of a Supreme Court justice is nearly impossible: the only justice to be impeached was Judge Samuel Chase in 1804, who was acquitted by the Senate the following year.

A total of 15 federal judges have been impeached in U.S. history.
