The Associated Press was panned by critics for saying Vice President Kamala Harris was “wearing both hats” as both the incumbent president and an agent for change.
“She’s been vice president for 3 1/2 years, and she’s also the presidential candidate who’s only been around for five weeks, promising a ‘new way forward,'” The Associated Press began in a report on Monday. “Kamala Harris, who launched her campaign after the Democratic National Convention, has been two-faced, taking credit for some of President Joe Biden’s accomplishments at a rally in front of Air Force Two while positioning herself as a new leader who rails against the ‘politics of the past.'”
“In every presidential election, candidates tout experience and freshness, but so far Harris appears to be juggling two seemingly opposing messages, much to the frustration of former President Donald Trump and his allies.” The Associated Press continued.

The Associated Press was mocked on social media for questioning why Harris was “playing both sides” in her campaign.
“It’s because you’re forgiving her,” conservative commentator Chad Felix Green told The Associated Press. Versus Media podcast host Stephen L. Miller similarly wrote, “It’s because you’re helping?”

“‘This is how they’re helping Kamala Harris avoid responsibility for everything she’s ever said and done,'” Republican strategist Matt Whitlock summarized to The Associated Press.
“There’s absolutely no ‘on the other hand’ or any skepticism in this boast from @ZekeJMiller,” Caleb Howe, an editor at the media site, wrote in slamming his fellow reporter.

The Associated Press did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
Harris formally accepted the party’s nomination fresh from the Democratic National Convention and just weeks after President Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.
The vice presidential nominee is facing intense scrutiny over the dramatic policy changes he has made since his first presidential run in 2019, as well as campaign promises he has vowed to keep in the White House despite being Biden’s No. 2.
