Appeals court upholds verdict against Trump in E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse case

federal appellate court rejected Lawyers for President-elect Donald Trump are challenging the ruling that found accuser E. Jean Carroll liable for sexual abuse.

Carroll accused Trump of sexually abusing her in the fitting room of a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. Trump denies the charges, but a New York jury last year found him liable for defamation and abuse stemming from comments he made that insulted Carroll.

“Democrat-funded Carroll hoax…continues to be appealed.”

Mr. Trump's lawyers argued for a new trial on the grounds that the jury heard improper testimony and that they were not allowed to ask Mr. Carroll certain questions during cross-examination. Among the testimonies they found inappropriate was the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape in which President Trump made comments about the sexual assault of women.

A federal appeals court panel on Monday rejected both claims and reaffirmed its verdict against Trump.

“Mr. Trump's statements on the tapes, combined with the testimony of Mr. Leeds and Mr. Stoynoff, establish a repetitive and idiosyncratic pattern of behavior consistent with Mr. Carroll's allegations,” the committee said. Referring to other women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct, she wrote: Raid.

“Based on our review of abuse of discretion, we conclude that Mr. Trump has not demonstrated that the district court erred in any of the challenged decisions,” the committee added.

“E. Jean Carroll and I are pleased with today's decision. We thank the Second Circuit for carefully considering the parties' arguments,” said Robbie Kaplan, Carroll's attorney.

President Trump's press secretary Stephen Chan issued a statement condemning the ruling.

“The American people re-elected President Trump with overwhelming authority and demanded an immediate end to the political weaponization of our judicial system and an immediate reversal of all Democrat-funded witch hunts, including the Carol Hoax. It is still being appealed,” Cheung said. intention In the next administration, he will become White House communications director.

In a separate case in January, a New York jury ordered President Trump to pay $83 million in defamation damages to Carroll.

“We look forward to uniting the country with the new administration as President Trump Makes America Great Again,” Chan added.
