Apple laying off 600+ in California

Apple will lay off more than 600 employees in California, according to a new state announcement.

according to Warning notice The state of California announced that 614 employees at eight different facilities in Santa Clara County will be permanently laid off. Employees will be notified of their layoffs on March 28th, with the layoffs effective May 27th.

Apple also laid off 121 employees in San Diego County earlier this year. The offer will end on April 26th.

News of the downsizing comes shortly after Apple canceled plans to build an electric car earlier this year. First reported by Bloombergthe company announced in February that it was ending a decade-long effort to manufacture electric vehicles.

The company’s Special Projects Group, SPG, which employs about 2,000 people, received the news as a surprise. Executives told employees they would be moving from the automotive team to the artificial intelligence team.

Apple is headquartered in Cupertino, Santa Clara County.

The Hill reached out to Apple for comment on the layoffs, but the company declined to comment in response to inquiries. CNBC News.

Apple is also in the midst of its biggest antitrust challenge yet, with the Department of Justice (DOJ) targeting the tech giant’s dominance of the smartphone market. The Justice Department claims that Apple’s creation of the iPhone ecosystem gave it an edge in the smartphone market.

The company has been accused of creating services and products that only work best in conjunction with Apple systems in order to maintain its dominance among various technological devices.
