Apple News Suppressed Reports on DNC's Financial Issues Before Midterm Elections

Apple News Allegedly Hides DNC Financial Problems

According to the Media Research Center (MRC), Apple News has not featured stories addressing the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) financial struggles as the midterm elections approach.

The MRC discovered that 78 articles detailing the DNC’s increasing debt were absent from Apple News’ top 20 stories between January 1 and September 28, as reported by the New York Post. This period notably precedes the midterm elections by just five weeks and follows the DNC’s announcement about its significant debt.

David Bozell, president of the MRC, criticized Apple News, stating, “Apple isn’t curating the news. It’s running a high-tech protection racket for the political left.”

The MRC’s analysis also revealed that at least 14 stories about the DNC’s financial issues, originating from sources that Apple News usually highlights, were similarly omitted. These sources included major outlets like USA Today, the Guardian, and the New York Times.

Bozell noted that the service tends to suppress stories related to the Democratic Party’s fundraising challenges while prominently featuring those that reflect poorly on Republicans. He mentioned that stories highlighted by Apple News can attract between one million to twenty million views.

Interestingly, Apple News employs human editors to choose featured stories, contrasting with platforms like Google News and Microsoft’s MSN, which rely more on algorithms.

Last year, the DNC attributed its nearly $16 million debt to the unsuccessful 2024 Biden-Harris campaign, alongside Kamala Harris’ failed campaign efforts, which apparently cost around $1.5 billion. Ultimately, the DNC ended up with a total debt of $20.5 million and secured a $15 million loan for gubernatorial elections in October 2025.

Entering 2026, the DNC stood with $17.5 million in debt, as reported by the New York Times. In contrast, the Republican National Committee (RNC) boasts a cash reserve of $230 million with no debt.

Bozell pointed out a notable double standard: “For years, the media lectured Americans about ‘dirty money in politics’ whenever Republicans had the fundraising advantage. Now Democrats are facing a financial mess of their own making, and suddenly the story isn’t worth telling.”

The DNC’s ongoing financial troubles have triggered discussions regarding the potential removal of DNC Chairman Ken Martin, who has reportedly expressed frustration in public settings.
