April’s full Pink Moon rises in the night sky on Tuesday and through end of week

April’s full moon, known as the Pink Moon, will rise on Tuesday night and remain bright in the night sky through the weekend.

For people on the East Coast of the United States, the moon will rise on Tuesday at 7:49 pm ET.

People in the West will have to wait several hours to see the full moon light up the night sky, rising around 4:48 p.m. PT on the Pacific Coast.

This month is known by different names depending on the different tribes and cultures of Native Americans around the world.

The Maine Farmer’s Yearbook began using Native American full moon names in the 1930s.

According to the Farmer’s Yearbook, Pink Moon is named after the herb moss pink, also known as creeping phlox, a plant native to the eastern United States. This flower is pink and is a sign of spring.

April’s full moon also has other native names, including Egg Moon, Fish Moon, and Sprouting Grass Moon.

According to the Hebrew calendar, this day is also known as Passover or Pesachmoun.
