Arch Manning’s Spring Practice Update
Arch Manning is expected to be somewhat limited this spring after a minor foot surgery he had last month.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian mentioned in a recent interview that while Manning has removed his walking boot, he will be restricted, particularly in the early part of spring practice.
Last season, Manning showcased impressive stats, throwing for 3,163 yards and securing 26 touchdowns, while also adding 10 rushing touchdowns during his first full season as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback.
Sarkisian explained that the quarterback had been dealing with a long-standing issue, stressing that it wasn’t serious. “We wanted to address it,” he said. “It just requires some time for recovery. We’ll ensure he’s completely healthy before we get him back on the field.”
Despite concluding the 2025 season with a 10-3 record and missing the College Football Playoff, there were high hopes for Manning at the start of the season.
Sarkisian pointed out that in the second half of the season, “nobody played better” than Manning.
Interestingly, Manning has decided not to enter the NFL Draft, opting to return to Austin for another season.
Sarkisian expressed optimism about Manning’s maturation over the past year. He noted, “He gained a lot of confidence as the season progressed. We’ve learned about his playing style, and he seems to have returned with a solid mindset. This is his team, and he’s determined to go for a championship. Everything else will follow, but that’s clearly his focus. He’s such a team player; it’s evident every day.”
Spring practices for Texas are set to kick off on March 9th, running for five weeks, with the spring game scheduled for April 19th.
