Arch Manning Shines Against San Jose State
Arch Manning had a strong showing on Saturday, bouncing back from a narrow loss to Ohio State in his first game of the 2025 season. The Texas Longhorns defeated the Spartans 38-7 in San Jose.
In the game, Manning completed 19 of 30 passes for 295 yards, tossing four touchdown passes, all in the first half. Both Parker Livingston and Jack Endries caught two touchdown passes each, with Livingston snagging an impressive 83-yard touchdown.
Interestingly, Manning didn’t add any touchdowns in the second half. He expressed some frustration over certain “sloppy” plays by the team, noting that Texas had some turnover issues. He mentioned feeling that his overall performance wasn’t up to par.
This game marked a complete turnaround from last week’s effort where Manning struggled against the Buckeyes, who came into that game as defending national champions and were ranked number one.
The anticipation surrounding Manning is palpable. After a standout high school career, expectations were high as he entered college, and he appears to have managed that pressure well so far. He faced tough defensive challenges against Ohio State but managed to keep Texas competitive despite the odds. Although he encountered pressure once again against San Jose State, he was able to minimize mistakes this time around.
The Longhorns will next take on UTEP, looking to build on this positive momentum.
