Today marks the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Protests have been ongoing outside the United Center all week, most of which are led by groups and organizations aligned with the Democratic Party line. The protests were so intense that barricades were erected around the convention site but protesters still tore down security fencing, leaving many to wonder if something big could happen on Thursday, the final day of the Democratic National Convention.
Blaze Media national correspondent Julio Rosas called from the venue in Chicago to update Jill Savage of “Blaze News Tonight.”

“We didn’t think it would happen, but protesters have breached the fence in several places and are now engaged in a standoff with Chicago police,” Rosas said, adding that police were equipped with pepper spray.
“What caused this security breakdown?” asks Matthew Peterson, editor in chief of Blaze Media.
“They [breach the security perimeter] “That’s clearly down to a hands-off approach from police,” Rosas explained. “The administration of Superintendent Brandon Johnson, led by Snelling, has given police a fair amount of leeway in certain places.”
“What are the main demands and issues the protesters are raising?” asks Jill.
“We want at least a ceasefire in Gaza and an arms embargo on Israel,” are the main issues protesters are raising, but some groups have raised other concerns, such as “healthcare” and “not building a border wall across the entire country.”
On the final day of the convention, Rosas expects “more of the same as previous days,” and perhaps even more extensive displays.
The protesters have already “made a big first impression,” he said, and “if the Chicago Police Department continues to take this hands-off approach, they will only become more emboldened.”
