Argentina sees dips in popularity in Pope Francis, new poll finds

Pope Francis remains hugely popular in Latin America, but his favorability ratings have declined in Argentina, a new survey finds.

Pew Research Center Published a comprehensive survey titled “How do people in Latin America and the United States view Pope Francis?” The poll surveyed 6,234 adults from Latin America's six most populous countries last year. We investigated.

The poll found that attitudes toward the pope in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru remain largely positive, but overall are less positive than they were a decade ago.

In Brazil and Mexico, for example, 68% of adults have a favorable opinion of the Pope.

Argentina's popularity of the pope has fallen the most among the six countries surveyed.

Ten years ago, 91% of Argentines said they had a positive opinion of Francisco. This number has now dropped to an estimated 64%.

The poll also found that:

– In Brazil and Mexico, 68% of adults have a favorable opinion of the Pope.

-In Colombia, at the end of 2013, 83% of adults agreed with this statement, compared to 72%.

– In Chile, only about half of adults view Francisco positively.

Favorability ratings for Francis among U.S. adults reached their highest point between 2015 and 2017, with 7 in 10 Americans viewing him favorably. Currently, 57% of American adults have a favorable opinion of the Pope.

The poll found that U.S. Catholics (75%) are more likely than Protestants (51%) or religious independents (56%) to have a positive view of Francis today. It turned out to be high.
