Ariana Grande Makes Statement at Golden Globes
During the Golden Globe Awards, Ariana Grande, the well-known pop star and actress, wore a pin that said “ICE OUT.” This was a clear reference to Renee Good, a 37-year-old who was recently shot by an ICE officer in Minnesota.
Grande used the high-profile event to express her disapproval of U.S. immigration enforcement, urging ICE to “step down.” It was a bold move during a major ceremony on Sunday.
Some viewers weren’t pleased. One critic said that Hollywood celebrities seem detached from reality, making comments while living in their expensive homes. Another took a jab at Grande’s personal life, suggesting she hasn’t had a typical work experience or family life, implying that her opinions hold little weight when it comes to the everyday challenges people face.
Mark Ruffalo, another actor, also wore a pin against ICE and mentioned that it was a tribute to those feeling anxious due to current circumstances, emphasizing that he identifies with those fears.
Several other actresses, including Natasha Lyonne, Jean Smart, and Wanda Sykes, joined in by wearing similar pins on the red carpet.
Amid the celebrity activism, conservative activist CJ Pearson posed a question to those protesting at the awards: When would they open their luxurious homes to those they claim to support?
Another individual pointed out a perceived inconsistency in how the award shows prioritize certain issues over others, raising eyebrows about the recognition of various figures at these events.
Elon Musk also weighed in, describing a comment on the situation as “terrible.”
