Justice was not served, it was merely delivered.
Two Arizona residents got a pleasant surprise when three police officers arrived at their door with groceries in hand after officers arrested a delivery driver who was on his way to drop off a supermarket order.
Waden-Kahn and her roommate were waiting for their DoorDash order on May 30 when they noticed the delivery person hadn’t moved from the same location for over an hour after they were notified that their order had been picked up. A-Z Family.
But just when they thought they would never get their food, there was a knock on the door.
“I looked out the window and saw two police cars parked there,” Khan told the outlet.
“Three police officers ran over and I was like, ‘Oh my God! What’s going on?'”
According to the media report, officers from the Phoenix Police Department decided to fulfill the order themselves after arresting the DoorDash delivery driver on an outstanding warrant.
The driver told Officer Eric Dillard he would return the order to the grocery store and find another driver to complete the delivery.
But Dillard said he knew he would be able to complete the order after arresting the driver.
“He said if I returned the car to Fry’s they would provide another driver for the resident, so I took it upon myself and thought, ‘Let’s make both sides happy. Let’s make the resident happy and the driver happy,'” Dillard told the outlet.
Officers were seen handing the bag of groceries to the roommate on body camera footage and in a now-viral TikTok video.
“It was a very happy moment. I was able to see the positive side. Honestly, I just wanted to hug the officers,” Khan said.
Dillard said she didn’t mind doing everything in her power to complete the order because her job is to keep the community safe and well-being.
“I don’t expect police to deliver groceries, but we’re going to do what we need to do to make people happy,” Dillard said.
