Protests Erupt in Scottsdale Over Military Parade

Scottsdale, Arizona – On Saturday morning, progressive activists nationwide gathered to protest against President Donald Trump and the US Army’s 250th anniversary parade taking place in Washington, DC.

Reports indicate that Blaze News was present in Scottsdale, where approximately 2,000 demonstrators showed up to voice their concerns.

“Stop the coup.”

Participants convened at the southwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Camelback Road, conveniently located near the Scottsdale Fashion Square. The shopping center had previously endured significant damage during the Black Lives Matter protests in May 2020, which resulted in numerous arrests related to looting and vandalism. This history has left some locals worried that Saturday’s protest might lead to similar chaos.

As the morning progressed, hundreds of protesters congregated, filling the area and sometimes spilling onto nearby blocks. Barriers were set up to manage traffic flow, primarily obstructed by groups of people, including older adults.

The strong presence of law enforcement was evident, with local police patrolling the area and ensuring order amidst the crowd.

Protesters at the No Kings rally were affiliated with 198 groups reportedly bringing in $2.1 billion annually. Attendees were seen waving American flags, symbolically “recovering” the national emblem.

In Arizona, participants carried signs criticizing Trump and Elon Musk, also displaying patriotic imagery that is often associated with conservative events. At one point, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” was played, and a demonstrator held up a sign that stated, “No one is illegal.”

Other signs featured messages such as “oppression is a mask of fear,” “letting go of our NPR,” and “stop the coup,” while one particularly striking sign declared, “Americans made a guillotine worthy of the king.”

Vehicles passing by often honked in solidarity with the demonstrators. While a few individuals with Trump decals showed their support for the president, the protest remained largely peaceful, winding down by early afternoon.

Throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, several other protests associated with the same cause took place, with local news estimating that “thousands” participated overall.
