Missing Hiker Found Dead in Arizona Desert
Authorities have confirmed that the woman who vanished while hiking in the Arizona Desert has been found deceased following an extensive search.
The body of 31-year-old Hanna Moody was discovered on Thursday near a parking area at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, as reported by the Scottsdale Police Department.
“Tragically, Hanna’s body was located by a search team. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time,” the department stated.
Moody’s friend, who was understandably concerned, reported her missing shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to police.
She had last been seen earlier that day at the Gateway Trailhead within the reserve.
Law enforcement quickly initiated a broad search and located her vehicle in the trailhead parking lot. Although the search was temporarily halted around midnight, it resumed the next day with extra assistance from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Moody’s body was found around noon on Thursday, situated just 600 yards from the trail parking area.
While authorities stated that “this is an active investigation,” they also noted that “there are no signs of foul play.” The exact cause of death will be evaluated by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office.
