Arizona Official Allegedly Involved in Job Offer and Kidnapping Case
A city official in Arizona is facing a serious lawsuit, where she is accused of offering a job in exchange for sexual favors. When the man turned her down, she allegedly kidnapped her teenage daughter.
Janet Garcia, a 38-year-old councilwoman from Avondale, reportedly proposed to a man at a Turning Point USA event in Goodyear, Arizona, on November 14, 2024, according to court documents.
The man, referred to as “Father John Doe,” repeatedly rejected Garcia’s advances, which grew more aggressive as the night went on. He was there for work—to promote candidates for the organization in upcoming elections.
In the lawsuit, the complaint highlights that Garcia’s behavior caused significant distress. Fed up, the father decided to leave the restaurant shortly after midnight to avoid the situation.
However, when he returned home 45 minutes later, his 14-year-old daughter was missing. After searching for her at friends’ places, the father finally met with officers from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, who informed him that his daughter was with Garcia. The circumstances about how they found out remain unclear.
The officers reportedly reassured him that his daughter was safe. Yet, attempts he made to reach out to both her and Garcia were unsuccessful. He told the deputies he had just concluded a mission with Garcia and questioned why his daughter was in her care.
Finally managing to contact Garcia around 2:20 AM, she confirmed his daughter was with her. Garcia, described as extremely intoxicated, allegedly told the girl that her father might turn violent due to alcohol, leading to her decision to take the child.
The father claimed in court documents that Garcia took his daughter without consent and that the police response during the incident was questionable.
It took until the following day for them to retrieve the girl, after arrangements were made through Garcia’s grandmother.
According to the father, the incident had lasting effects on his daughter, who became withdrawn and anxious, missing school and other activities. This wasn’t the first controversy surrounding Garcia, as she faced censure from the city council earlier for comments involving actor Tom Hanks that were considered inappropriate.
In a recent statement, both Garcia and Turning Point USA have not responded to requests for comment about the incident. Garcia, however, has publicly denied all allegations, stating that these claims are false and asserting she has never harmed anyone.
