Arkansas State Police reported that three people were killed and at least 10 were injured in a shooting at a grocery store on Friday.

Reports initially said two people were dead before officers found the third victim.

According to Arkansas State Police, officers were called around 11:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, about 70 miles south of Little Rock.

Authorities reported that eight civilians were injured, three of them seriously, the last two of whom were injured when the suspect returned fire at officers. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police also said a lone suspect was shot by officers and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect has been arrested.

“This is a tragedy and our hearts are broken,” said Col. Mike Hager, state police superintendent and director of public safety.

Police did not immediately say whether the shooting happened inside or outside the store, nor did they release the identity of the victim, but authorities said they would release more details later Friday night, and current reports have identified the suspect as 44-year-old “Travis Posey.”

Meanwhile, Arkansas Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders posted on Twitter expressing condolences to the victims and praising the “heroic” emergency responders who quickly apprehended the suspect.
