‘Armed And Dangerous’: Two Teenage Inmates Knock Out Georgia Deputy, Escape Custody

Georgia law enforcement is searching for two “armed and dangerous” teenage inmates who escaped custody after allegedly punching a deputy Thursday.

The two escaped teenage inmates are listed as Corinthian Newton, 15, and Brandon Davis, 14, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Con. According to a Facebook post, Newton and Davis were able to subdue Jenkins County Deputy Milo Perry by hitting him unconscious with their own guns. Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office.

“The individuals were able to obtain Deputy Perry’s gun, which was used to strike Deputy Perry unconscious. They were able to fire three shots in Deputy Perry’s direction. Deputy Perry was not shot,” police said in a post. The Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office also noted that Perry was taken to the hospital after the incident.

The two were being held at the Augusta Regional Juvenile Detention Center and were still wearing jumpsuits at the time of the escape, a deputy told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The escape reportedly occurred as the two were being transferred to a detention center. According to the newspaper, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office advised all residents to lock their doors and “call 911 immediately if you see anyone suspicious.”

Another prisoner escape occurred in Idaho on Wednesday, when an unknown gunman allegedly shot at a prison transport vehicle carrying an inmate. The gunman successfully shot and killed two correctional officers, and a third officer was accidentally shot and killed by a Boise police officer. No police officers were killed in the attack.

“This brazen, violent and apparently coordinated attack on an Idaho Department of Corrections officer, with the goal of escaping a dangerous inmate, took place in the emergency department, where people often go seeking medical assistance in the most dire of situations. It took place right in front of us,” Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar told reporters. The chief acknowledged that the mystery gunman and inmate were presumed to be “armed and dangerous” and prepared to commit violence.
