Armie Hammer’s lifestyle was much different than it is now before he was very publicly canceled and “bankrupt.”

The Lone Ranger star revealed he had experienced a “self-esteem death,” “career death” and “financial death” after multiple women came forward to claim that Hammer was a “flesh-eater” and that he had sexually abused them.

Hammer explained that he is now bankrupt after the sexual abuse allegations came to light in January 2021. He said in an interview with Bill Maher:Club RandomIn a “podcast episode,” he said he didn’t take any money from his family.

“Someone might look at me and say, ‘Yeah, but financially, you’re in a situation you’ve never been in before in your life,'” the actor explained later in the interview, “But I look at that and say, ‘Yeah, and what I’ve learned from this experience is that I don’t need any of that, because I’ve never been happier in my life.'”

Hammer also said that the lifestyle he had lived up to this moment would have led to “death” had the show not been canceled.

“My life would have continued exactly the same as it always has,” he told Maher, “and I know it will ultimately lead to one place: death.”

The “Call Me By Your Name” star admitted that his actions at the time were “stupid.”

“My life was moving in a certain direction, and Newton’s laws were like that: an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force,” he explained. “My life was moving. I was making a lot of money. I was drinking a lot. I was doing a lot of drugs. I was partying a lot. I was really careless about what I wrote in my text messages. And, looking back, I was doing some stupid, risky things.”

For Hammer, it’s unclear whether there’s a direct link between his past trauma and his actions.

“I think a lot of the behavior that I was doing came from extenuating circumstances,” Hammer told Marr, “and whether it came from some kind of dissatisfaction with my own life or whether it came from, you know, whatever.”

Maher interrupted Hammer to talk about the abuse he allegedly suffered at the hands of a priest when he was 13.

“It’s something I’ve never talked about, never made public, never accepted, and I’m very embarrassed about it,” Hammer admitted. “So what does it say about me? The answer is it says nothing about me.”

Hammer was dropped from two major projects – a romantic comedy featuring Jennifer Lopez and a series following the making of “The Godfather” – after the sexual abuse allegations and cannibalism fantasy controversy broke in January 2021. But he said he feels “incredibly liberated” now that he’s free from being “canceled.”

“So much of my life leading up to this point has been about two things,” Hammer explained. “I was so concerned with what people thought of me, and now I don’t have to worry about that. When you decide that everyone hates you, you’re like, ‘Oh, well, I don’t need anything from you. I need to learn to be happy with myself.'”

“And when I do that, it feels so amazing,” he continued. “And then when someone says something to me and they’re like, ‘I don’t like you,’ I’m like, ‘Okay, I don’t care.’ I feel like my opinion is my own and I’m allowed to say it. I just don’t agree with it. But I needed approval before I needed that.”

Several women accused Hammer of sharing their sexual fantasies with them. It involves cannibalism. The first accusation came from the anonymous Instagram account “House of Effie,” where unverified screenshots showed messages Hammer sent to an unidentified woman detailing BDSM acts and admitting that he is “100% a cannibal.”

The actress’ ex-girlfriend, Paige Lorenze, claimed Hammer had a desire to suck and eat her ribs, which she said was “definitely unpleasant.”

“He was talking about finding a doctor who would remove my unwanted ribs (the lower ribs) and that he has a smoker at home and he wanted to smoke them and eat them,” Lorenze previously told Fox News Digital. “He was curious to know what they would taste like and said, ‘That would be delicious.'”

At least two other women came forward with similar allegations, and the actor was also accused of rape – all charges Hammer denied at the time.

In 2023, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office Hammer will not be charged. Related to the allegations.

“Sexual assault cases are often difficult to prove, which is why we hire the most experienced prosecutors to review the case,” spokesperson Tiffiny Bracknell told Fox News Digital at the time. “In this case, our prosecutors conducted an extremely thorough review and have determined that there is insufficient evidence at this time to charge Mr. Hammer with a criminal offense.”
