Armie Hammer denies cannibalism claims, says Robert Downey Jr. ‘did not’ pay for Hammer’s rehab stint

Disgraced actor Armie Hammer appeared on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” to address the numerous allegations.

The “Call Me By Your Name” star was accused of sexual assault in 2017 by a former girlfriend, who also claimed that Hammer “violently raped her” for “more than four hours.”

His career was derailed by a series of text messages that allegedly detailed sexual fantasies including rape, violence and cannibalism, and were leaked online by an anonymous Instagram account called “House of Effie.”

“You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to actually eat someone,” Hammer told Morgan bluntly.

“This was a very intense, sexually charged affair between two people with very similar sexual proclivities and proclivities,” he said of his relationship with the woman, who later identified herself as Efrosina “Effie” Angelova.

“Every conversation we had [he and Angelova] What they had in that relationship, when you take it out of context and put it in broad daylight, it doesn’t look very good.”

While talking about role-play and BDSM, Hammer acknowledged that “everyone has different sexual fantasies.”

“I wouldn’t say branding. No. There was a scenario that we discussed beforehand, which was that I would basically trace the letter ‘A’ with a tiny tip,” Hammer said. “Like the tip of a tiny knife. … I mean, there wasn’t even blood in that situation. It was more like a scratch. Kind of like how couples get tattoos of each other’s initials.”

Hammer’s ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, filed for divorce in 2020, months before allegations of abuse, rape and cannibalism against Hammer became public. Their divorce was finalized last year.

After facing public criticism, Hammer revealed that he attempted suicide before entering a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. When asked if reports that Robert Downey Jr. paid for his treatment were true, Hammer replied, “No, he didn’t. He didn’t pay for me to go to rehab.”

“Did he support you?” Morgan asked.

“I think so… yes, he does,” Morgan said, noticing the hesitation in Hammer’s response.

“You don’t seem convinced,” Morgan said. “It’s been widely reported. Surely it’s not true?”

Downey was arrested for drunk driving in the ’90s and served a year in prison. Downey was arrested in 1996, and police also found heroin, cocaine, crack, and a .357 Magnum in Downey’s car.

Downey got sober in 2003 after stints in rehab and relapsed, and has remained sober ever since. He was pardoned for a 1996 drug offense..

“I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what I did,” Hammer said. “I’ve had so many people that have been so helpful and I’m so grateful.”

Hammer added that Downey “helped him in the same way that anybody who struggles with addiction issues in Hollywood, be it alcohol, drugs, substance abuse, any kind of addiction, decides to get sober: He finds you and he helps you.”

Representatives for Hammer and Downey did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The rape allegations sparked a nine-month criminal investigation by police. Los Angeles Police DepartmentArmie has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, and prosecutors announced in May 2023 that they would not be filing charges against Hammer in the sexual assault case.

Armie and his family are the subject of a Discovery+ documentary series that explores “the deeply troubling allegations leveled against critically acclaimed actor Armie Hammer and the dark and twisted legacy of the Hammer family.”

Amid the backlash, he dropped out of a number of films, including Paramount’s “The Offer,” a show about the making of “The Godfather,” in which Miles Teller played the lead role.

He was also scheduled to co-star Jennifer Lopez Armie played the role of Josh Duhamel in “Shotgun Wedding.” After completing treatment in May 2021, he was reportedly spotted selling timeshares in the Cayman Islands.
