You first, Arnold.
The superstar who once made the Hammer cool is now the muscle-bound Greta Thunberg.
Arnold Schwarzenegger told us I take action During a speech at the Austrian World Summit earlier this week.
“All we care about is action. Talk alone won’t save us, but action will. We all share the same vision of a pollution-free world.”
The “Terminator” star saw plenty of action in his younger years. As Governor of California, he Commuting private jets. his Hummer “Fleet” The spell was legendary.
Now: He works in an industry that has green initiatives, but too often fails to close those particular contracts, and his lengthy rants on climate change never target China’s coal plants or environmental destruction.
Is the Austrian orc still flying private jets? Is he using his influence to humiliate his peers? Environmental hypocrites like Leonardo DiCaprio?
No? In that case, “Bye, baby.”
Sean Penn mourns gay payday
When you ask conservatives if there’s an ultra-liberal star they wouldn’t want to watch, one name comes up time and time again: Sean Penn.
No one can deny the actor’s talent — he’s won two Oscars and can pivot from Jeff Spicoli to Dead Man Walking — but he’s been an outspoken activist for so long that many moviegoers have grown weary of him, and his wordy editorials would likely tire Kamala Harris.
But this week, the disgruntled celebrity stood up for a creative expression we can all root for. Penn looked back with some regret at the 2008 biopic Milk, for which he won his second Oscar. He thought that as a straight man, he wouldn’t be able to land the role of a gay rights icon today. That’s the new woke rule. He’s not a fanAccording to a conversation with The New York Times.
“No. This cannot happen in these times. … We are living in a time of enormous excess. This is a policy that is cowardly and insensitive to the human imagination.”
He is right.
Penn is one of several stars who have spoken out, albeit cautiously, against the excesses of woke people. Dame Judi Dench recently said: Theatrical trigger warningfor example.
All Penn needs now is some tasty waves, some cool excitement and some artistic freedom.
“Acolyte” star performs boring song “Discourse”
Osho is not Princess Leia.
Disney’s heroine of “The Acolyte” has come under fire from Star Wars fans, with the new show being heavily panned on YouTube and elsewhere for its lesbian witches, poor storytelling and anti-canonical plot.
Now the woman who plays Osha is fighting back with some truly awful rap lyrics: Amandla Stenberg has just released a new song, “Discourse,” that targets critics.
Need some lyric samples?
“We are so bored, don’t interfere in your argument.”
“They are twisting, distorting and appropriating the term ‘woke.’ Last I remember, woke was invented by us, speaking truth to power. Watch out you stupid racists.”
“I’m tired of suppressing my anger. I’ve taken their drivel with distinction for 400 years, just like my ancestors were caged.”
Step back, Bob Dylan. There’s a new songwriter in town.
Costner pays the price
How big is Kevin Costner’s wallet now?
A Yellowstone legend is taking the biggest risk of his career this weekend, and this is the same man who once showed Waterworld to unsuspecting audiences.
Costner’s Horizon is the first in a planned four-part film series that tackles the Western genre head-on. It’s scheduled for a modest theatrical release while its lead actor scrambles to raise funds for the third and fourth installments. The second film has already wrapped filming and is due for release on August 16th.
The old Hollywood adage is that you shouldn’t spend your own money on a movie, but the former star of “Bull Durham” did just that. But how much did he get paid? That depends on when you ask him.
First, Costner $20 million He revealed the real numbers for making “Horizon” a reality. $38 million.
With just a few days left until the film’s release, what are the actual numbers? $50 million.
If you have that kind of money to spend, Horizon might not be as risky as we thought.
