Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a seemingly random facial slashing in a trendy New York City neighborhood.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to FOX News Digital that 25-year-old Joshua Zinberg was arrested at noon Thursday.
Authorities said Zinberg lived on New York City's Upper West Side and that his mother recognized him from surveillance footage released by police.
He was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the New York City Police Department.

On Thursday, footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed Zinberg leaving the police precinct. The footage shows the 25-year-old yelling unintelligible insults and spitting at reporters.

“You're doing it for the clicks, aren't you?” he told reporters.

Zinberg was arrested after his mother told police she recognized her son from security footage taken after the incident.
Surveillance footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed Zinberg running through the streets of the Big Apple with a knife in his hand.

Authorities previously confirmed that the 55-year-old tourist was attacked in broad daylight as he walked down a New York City street.
The NYPD said the gruesome attack left the tourist with cuts to his left ear and left cheek. The victim was taken to the hospital after being stabbed.

Wednesday's slashing came two days after a knife-wielding man was charged with killing three people on Monday.
Police arrested Ramon Rivera, 51, a career criminal, earlier this week on suspicion of assault. Unprovoked stabbing Beyond Manhattan.

Rivera, who is homeless, has been arrested eight times and was released from prison weeks before the knife attack.
