On Tuesday, two-term Governor Hutchinson (R-Arkansas) announced the end of his campaign after finishing sixth in the Iowa caucuses.

“I'm suspending my presidential campaign and driving back to Arkansas. I'm an experienced, principled Republican, and my message of telling the truth about the current front-runner didn't sell in Iowa.” Hutchinson said in a statement. “I stand by the campaign I ran. I answered every question, warned Republicans about the risks of 2024, and expressed hope for our country's future.”

Mr. Hutchinson received fewer than 200 votes out of more than 110,000 voters in Iowa's Republican presidential caucus, according to unofficial counts.

ex 45th As expected, President Donald Trump came out on top in the Iowa Republican caucuses on Monday night, winning a majority of the vote with over 50%, setting a new record.

The former governor has criticized Trump in the past, declaring in early November that it is “very likely that Donald Trump will be convicted by a jury of a felony next year.”

“It may or may not happen. It may not make any difference to you before you vote in March, but it will make a difference in your chances of attracting independent voters in November. “That would have a huge impact on Congressional and Senate races and weaken the Republican Party for decades to come. As a party, we must uphold the rule of law.” .

Hutchinson began his presidential campaign in April 2023, but struggled to raise funds and his poll numbers never rose above the low single digits.

He met the voting and donation requirements to qualify for the first Republican presidential debate in August, but was still unable to take the stage.

There are currently three major candidates remaining in the Republican presidential race: Trump, Ron DeSantis (R-Florida), and Nikki Haley (South Carolina).
