Aspiring rapper in NYC charged with animal cruelty for torturing and killing stray cat

A man aspiring to be a rapper faces animal cruelty charges after being accused of torturing and killing a stray cat in a disturbing satanic ritual last year. The indictment was announced by prosecutors on Tuesday.

Bronx Supreme Court Justice George Villegas confirmed that David Mosley, also known as Ubbal Church, was arrested on charges related to aggravated animal cruelty and injury, as reported by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors revealed that Mosley pleaded not guilty to charges of brutal behavior on October 22, when he shared a graphic image of a deceased cat in a pool of blood on his now-removed Instagram account, triggering widespread outrage.

Less than two weeks after that post, Mosley shared another picture with the same cat, which was alive at the time, according to prosecutors. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Mosley bringing the cat into his apartment on October 9.

In court, he claimed that he discovered the cat after it had died, though prosecutors are skeptical of this defense.

During a live-streamed video, Mosley described his actions as a tasteless joke, further ridiculing animal rights advocates. It seems this stunt was an attempt to promote his upcoming rap album.

In a powerful statement, Judge Linda Paust Lopez expressed her intention to deny any plea deal related to the animal cruelty charges unless it included the maximum sentence. She also recommended that Mosley seek mental health support.

The charge carries a potential penalty of two years in prison, which the judge appears determined to uphold.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating that Mosley’s actions, including showcasing dead cats on social media, were appalling. Mosley is set to return to court on March 17.
