At least 4 injured in shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas

Police are searching for a suspect after four students were injured in a shooting at Wilmer Hutchins High School in Dallas on Tuesday afternoon.

A 17-year-old was shot in the leg, According to a report by Fox 4 Dallas.

Reports show that two other students were shot dead and one was grazing. Their age ranges from 15 to 18.

According to Fox 4, one of the victims was “seriously injured” and the injury to another is not life-threatening.

The Dallas Independent School District (DISD) said the school was “secured” in an update shared shortly after 2pm

Police said the suspect was identified at a press conference but has not yet been detained.

Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Tenel Atkins Someone told the suspect “opened the door.”

Filming took place around 1:25pm, according to a Disd statement.

During a press conference, Disc Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde said that the school’s assigned officers will respond within two minutes, followed by additional law enforcement.

Parents and parents were allowed to reunite with students at Eagles Stadium, adjacent to campus, according to the school district.

All students were greeted by their families at 6:40pm

“This is a difficult time and I understand that you are looking for your patience,” the district wrote in X-Post. “Counselors are available to you at the site.”

The video showed many first responders, including police, firefighters and paramedics at the school.

Elizalde said she spoke to Gov. Greg Abbott. Greg Abbott provided the district with the resources needed.

Abbott posted to X, saying, “Our minds appear as victims of meaningless violence at Wilmer Hutchins High School.”

“We provide law enforcement with the tools needed to arrest and bring criminals to trial,” he wrote. “…Cecilia and I ask fellow Texans to join us to pray for a quick recovery of our victims and the entire Wilmer Hutchins high school community.”

Abbott added that since becoming governor, Texas has provided more than $3 billion in school safety funding.

“This session calls for an additional $500 million to further protect schools across the state,” he writes.

According to Fox 4, there was a shooting in high school almost a year ago, prompting the use of metal detectors and clear backpacks.

Wilmer Hutchins High School will be closed for the rest of the week, with additional officers likely to be stationed at schools in other districts, Elizalde said.

Disd did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Fox News Digital.
