Dozens of minors were taken into custody after a massive disturbance at a shopping mall in Carson, California, on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department posted on social media that they received a report of a large gathering of approximately 200 minors at South Bay Pavilions Mall around 5:20 p.m.
During the gathering, minors lit trash cans on fire and set off illegal fireworks inside stores inside the mall, according to the sheriff’s office. It is unclear what prompted the gathering.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies gave orders to disperse but the juveniles did not comply, and additional law enforcement was called in to assist as the juveniles were causing disruption in the mall and endangering shoppers.
The rally forced shopping malls to close. KTLA reported.
About 60 to 70 minors were detained and issued summonses in connection with the incident, the outlet reported, and police spent about five hours at the mall detaining the boys.

The detained juveniles are required to appear in court at a later date, the sheriff’s office posted on social media.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
There were also no reports of theft from stores in the mall, according to KTLA.
