At-risk GOP Representative Mike Lawler raises more than $1 million for the 2026 House election

Lawler’s Fundraising Success

In a noteworthy development, one of the two Republican representatives in the district formerly won by Vice President Kamala Harris is about to announce impressive fundraising results. Rep. Mike Lawler, serving New York’s 17th district, is set to share that he raised over $1 million in the latest funding quarter—specifically, $1.1 million in the third quarter of 2025.

According to his campaign, this is the most successful fundraising quarter for moderate House Republicans in a non-election year.

Chris Russell, a spokesperson for Lawler’s campaign, conveyed to Fox News Digital that the figures illustrate that “our message is winning and our ground battles are unparalleled.”

Trump Leads the 2025 Election Landscape

Russell also mentioned that Lawler’s efforts focus on advocating for what he called the “big and beautiful bill,” which Republicans managed to pass earlier this year, despite significant pushback from Democrats. He stated, “While our opponents stumble to appease the far-left base, Mike Lawler is assembling a coalition of working families, workers, law enforcement, Republicans, nonpartisans, and mainstream Democrats who are tired of chaotic politics and extremists.”

Looking forward, Lawler intends to prioritize sensible solutions aimed at achieving SALT, enacting significant tax cuts for middle and working-class families, and enhancing safety in Hudson Valley communities.

Notably, Lawler concluded this quarter with $2.3 million in cash on hand.

The district, which includes suburban areas of New York City, played a key role in the Republican wins during the 2022 and 2024 elections. The Cook Political Report, a bipartisan source, currently rates Lawler’s district as slightly favoring Democrats by a margin of +1.

A crowded primary looms for Lawler in the upcoming general election, with already eight Democrats in the race, many of whom have generated substantial funds. For instance, Army veteran Kate Conley raised over $500,000, former Briarcliff Manor Mayor Peter Chatsky brought in more than $340,000, and Rockland County Councilman Beth Davidson raised upwards of $370,000.

Meanwhile, Democrats nationwide are keen to reenergize their supporter base as a response to former President Trump’s policies. They found success in the 2018 midterms, but now New York Republicans are poised to take advantage of potential opportunities arising from rising candidates, particularly Zoran Mamdani, the leading contender for New York City mayor.

Lawler emphasized that the current environment poses a critical choice for Democrats: align themselves with extreme factions that oppose law enforcement and support unchecked illegal immigration, which he suggests could jeopardize the city’s economic wellbeing.
