North Carolina Senate Candidate Discusses Voter Registration Trends
Michael Whatley, a Republican Senate candidate from North Carolina, recently shared insights during an appearance on a talk show, emphasizing that the GOP is gaining ground in voter registration within the state.
As a former chairman of the RNC, Whatley outlined his strategy to engage liberal voters relocating from blue states, encouraging them to consider Republican viewpoints. “Everyone moving to North Carolina should know about the policies we need. We must focus on economic strategies that create jobs and increase wages,” he explained.
He added, “We have to ensure our trade policies support manufacturers, small businesses, and farmers. It’s crucial to keep our communities safe and uphold our support for the military. We have the highest concentration of service members and veterans in the nation, and this state always honors the flag.” Whatley emphasized the necessity of providing military personnel with the resources they need to protect both national and global interests.
He views the current climate as “a huge opportunity.” Whatley noted a significant shift over the past 15 years, highlighting that the Democratic voter registration advantage has decreased from over 500,000 to roughly 10,000, putting the parties in a nearly equal position.
“Republicans have been gaining in voter registration each month, so we really have a chance to connect with independent voters in North Carolina and discuss what is significant to them,” he said.
Whatley also referred to former President Donald Trump’s approach in key battleground states leading up to 2024, claiming that he succeeded by implementing “common sense policies to rebuild our economy, restore our southern border, and enhance America’s global standing.”
“These values are relevant for the upcoming 2026 election cycle, and they resonate here in North Carolina,” he stated.
