Auburn running back Brian Battie critically injured in Florida shooting

Auburn running back Brian Batty is in critical condition after being shot over the weekend, and his older brother Tommy was also killed in the same shooting in Sarasota, Florida.

The tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning, and Tommy Batty was pronounced dead at the scene, while Brian Batty was treated at a local hospital. The Sarasota Herald Tribune reported.

Batty played three seasons at the University of South Florida and transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2023 season.

Batty had 51 carries for 227 yards, one touchdown, and seven catches.

In his final season at USF, Batty had 1,185 rushing yards and eight touchdowns and was named an All-American in 2021 as a return specialist.
