Alabama teenager fatally stabs mother, critically injures father

An Alabama teenager is accused of stabbing his military parents, resulting in his mother’s death, while neighbors looked on as his injured father sought help.

Samantha Baker, 37, and Lance Baker, 46, were discovered with multiple stab wounds outside their Bell Forest apartment complex in Baldwin County around 9 p.m. on a Sunday evening, as reported by local news.

The couple, who met during their time in the U.S. Army Reserve, allegedly faced their son’s violent attack after a dispute regarding his discipline.

Authorities say the 17-year-old boy barricaded himself at home during the attack, which took place both inside and outside the residence, before ultimately calling the police.

Paramedics transported Lance Baker to a hospital, where he was later declared dead.

Lance Baker, who had a long career as a battalion commander in the U.S. Army Reserve, reportedly ran from house to house pleading for assistance, with neighbors recalling his desperate cries.

“That was probably the hardest part. Getting the camera out and listening to it and hearing my father’s cries for help…please help me…I don’t want to die,” Sean Scully shared.

After 26 years in service, Lance Baker commanded the Mobile Unit’s 1184th Deployment Distribution Support Battalion.

The incident occurred in a residential neighborhood, about 17 miles east of Mobile, and officials labeled the attack as a domestic issue.

The teenage son, who wasn’t present at home during the incident, is expected to be tried as an adult on charges of murder and attempted murder.

While the suspect hasn’t been publicly named, social media posts suggest he was a promising high school senior. Following his arraignment, he is currently held with a bail set at $1 million.

Friends remembered Samantha Baker for her bravery and kindness.

“She was so brave, so caring and so fun. She will be sorely missed,” co-worker April Shepherd expressed on social media.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Capt. Justin Correa commented on the tragedy, noting how sorrowful it is for the family to endure such a loss.
