Auburn’s Bruce Pearl reveals his message to team after plane turned around due to players fighting

Last week, a plane transporting the Auburn men's basketball team made a turn on its way to Houston, and two players reportedly got into an argument.

Audio obtained by WBRC shows the pilot saying there was a “physical altercation” that resulted in one “bloody mess” and torn clothing.

According to audio obtained by WMBA, the pilot turned the plane toward Auburn and asked a “sheriff or police officer” to wait for him to return.

Head coach Bruce Pearl was asked this during a recent appearance on Outkick.Please don’t @ me with Dan Dakich.” Regarding the message to the team after the plane changed direction.

“Well, look, (the message was) 'Let's all take some responsibility and accountability and learn from things.' But our focus was preparing for Houston. And… Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the community service event I wanted to attend, so I arrived a little late that night,'' Pearl said. .

“But sometimes when you're traveling or you're preparing, things can go against you. So I tried to keep the kids focused, and let's take the players that are going there and play some great basketball. “Right now, I'm trying to keep my kids focused. Let's see how good they are. Certainly, we all knew we were going to have a difficult task (beating) Houston.”

Despite the on-board altercation, No. 11 ranked Auburn eventually arrived in Houston and pulled off the upset, defeating the No. 4 ranked Cougars 74-69.

The Tigers were able to get the win, but the fallout from the run is far from over.

“At least for now, I understand how these things work. You know, there are limits to what I can say. Look, that was an unfortunate event, and we're “We're tackling it head-on. And it's going to happen. You're going to see immediate results here,” Pearl said.

Auburn is 3-0 on the season and will play North Alabama on Nov. 18.
