Emergency Recording from Minneapolis School Shooting Revealed

A newly obtained emergency recording has surfaced, revealing a harrowing response following a shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. This chilling moment unfolded as police and emergency personnel rushed to the scene on Wednesday during morning church services.

The one-hour audio captures the frantic coordination among dispatchers, police officers, and first responders as they reacted to the active shooter situation. Early in the recording, a dispatcher confirmed the reports of an active shooter at the school church and requested “all available support.” One responder noted over the radio that “there could be active shooters in Minneapolis.”

Once law enforcement arrived, they reported multiple injuries and immediately called for additional reinforcements. The recordings showcased their struggle to maintain clear routes for ambulances amidst the chaos. One officer emphasized the urgency by saying, “If we start deploying these ambulances with more casualties, we need to get these ambulances out of here.”

Medical supplies were urgently requested on site. One officer radioed in, “Bring all the gauze you have,” highlighting the desperate need for assistance.

Throughout the audio, graphic details emerged about the injuries. For instance, a responder reported, “We have two patients with gunshot wounds to the front head,” noting further victims located behind the church. Officials also stressed the importance of managing the crowd at the scene, urging anyone not assigned to stay away.

The tragic events unfolded as church services commenced around 8:30 a.m. The shooter, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, fired numerous rounds from outside the church, targeting individuals inside. Sadly, Westman later took his own life.

In total, 18 people sustained injuries, with 15 being children. Tragically, two students, aged 8 and 10, lost their lives during the incident.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara lauded the bravery of the first officer on the scene, who, despite being unarmed and without protective gear, charged into the church to assist. The Chief described this act as a lifeline for those inside, giving parishioners a glimmer of hope amid the chaos.

The FBI is investigating this shooting as a hate crime targeting Catholics and potential domestic terrorism. While the motivation remains uncertain, officials noted that the suspect may have uploaded a manifesto to YouTube prior to the attack, although it has since been removed.

O’Hara condemned the shooting as a cowardly act targeted at innocent children and worshippers, expressing disbelief at the sheer cruelty of the situation. Comparisons have been drawn to a previous incident in Nashville, where a gunman also took the lives of students and adults.

As the community grapples with this devastating event, discussions surrounding the impact of such tragedies continue, underscoring the need to prioritize the stories of victims amidst the horror.
