Four fully loaded firearms were recovered in one day by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at a TSA checkpoint at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, a TSA spokesperson said.
On January 21, TSA reported that a gun was found at a security checkpoint and was not brought onto the plane. So far in 2024, 11 guns have been found at TSA checkpoints at Austin Airport.
Austin Police received a call about the discovery of a gun. Gun owners currently face a $15,000 fine.
“TSA does not confiscate or seize any items, including firearms. If a traveler is suspected of having a gun in their carry-on bag, local law enforcement will be called, adjudicated, and may may be subject to prosecution,” a TSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Law enforcement agencies then comply with each state's gun regulations.
“Some states allow open carry and do not require a permit, while other states require a permit and class and prohibit open carry,” the TSA said.

According to the TSA, guns are only allowed in checked baggage and not in carry-on baggage. The gun must also be unloaded and then packed in a hard case with locked sides.
TSA will also be responsible for issuing fines, and travelers will be suspended from participating in TSAPreCheck for a period ranging from five years to life, TSA said.
