Australia dismisses viral chair knockout dispute involving a beer bottle

Flying Chair Incident at Melbourne Bar

The now infamous ‘flying chair’ incident originated from a heated demand for a beer. A man was thrown out of Bar 20 in Melbourne after he forcefully asked the bartender to “open a f***ing beer.”

Michael Trimble, co-owner of Bar 20, provided insights into the chaotic eight-minute expulsion that has now gained over 27 million views worldwide. It all began with a bottle of VB and a few inappropriate words.

“The bar manager attempted to open the bottle,” Trimble explained. “When she paused, he said something that made her reconsider serving him.” Upon her hesitation, the customer escalated the situation, yelling, “Open the damn beer.”

According to Trimble, trouble began as soon as the pair entered the venue around 9:20 p.m. They exhibited aggressive behavior towards the staff, raising concerns even before drinks were ordered.

The breaking point, Trimble noted, was when the man yelled about the beer. Security was called promptly, but both individuals resisted leaving peacefully. What should have taken thirty seconds turned into an astonishing eight-minute stand-off.

“This was a notably long time,” Trimble emphasized. “Most people exit quickly when asked to leave, but these two just wouldn’t go.” The drama intensified once they were outside. One man brandished a bollard momentarily before reconsidering.

Things took an unexpected turn when the man who had initially been aggressive returned to apologize. “He seemed genuinely regretful, saying sorry to his spouse for his behavior,” Trimble noted.

However, as he was apologizing, his friend was busy causing more chaos. He reportedly snatched a wooden chair from a nearby Korean restaurant and hurled it into the bar, despite staff protests. Unfortunately, he completely missed the bouncer; instead, the chair struck his friend’s head, knocking him out cold while security watched in shock.

This chaotic episode has since become a viral sensation, with footage circulating widely. Trimble remarked, “In my dozen years in this business, I’ve seen plenty of ridiculous moments, but this one has viral potential like none other.”

Following the incident, Trimble received the chair involved and decided to display it at a popular bar in Melbourne. “It’s turned into a keepsake for us,” he shared. “We even put a Bar 20 shirt on it for display.” The identities of those involved remain unknown.
