This was amid rising worries over potential Iranian influence and a possible revival of ISIS in Syria.
According to an Israeli intelligence source, specific warnings were given to Australian authorities about Iranian-led operations, targeting Jewish interests, though not directly linked to the recent attack at Bondi Beach; rather, the focus was on wider initiatives to form terrorist networks aimed at Jewish targets.
“We’ve succeeded in stopping several time bombs,” the official remarked, adding that the targets involved were indeed serious.
A rabbi who was killed in a recent attack in Sydney had previously warned the Australian prime minister about escalating anti-Semitism.
The official described how Israeli intelligence had noted Iranian coordination and activity, where operatives were reportedly carrying weapons within the Jewish community without detection by local law enforcement.

Intelligence has allegedly identified or interrupted similar plots in regions such as Europe, Africa, and Asia, encompassing countries like Germany and Austria, as well as suspected schemes in South America and beyond.

Reports state that a father and son carried out a shooting on the beach, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and numerous injuries. The father died at the scene, while the son, critically injured by police fire, was hospitalized. Authorities categorized the shooting as an act of terrorism aimed at the Jewish community.
