Authorities in Georgia are currently on the lookout for a man who reportedly became “infatuated” with a rubber duck while in a stranger’s hot tub. The Chatham County Police Department has stated that this individual not only trespassed onto the homeowner’s property but also took several towels before making his escape.
The police noted, “He trespassed onto their property, used their hot tub, became obsessed with their rubber duck, then stole their pool towels. It’s not the most serious crime we’ve seen this month, but it’s definitely got a lot of ick-factor, so we want to apprehend him to prevent any other incidents.”
According to surveillance footage from the home located on Whitefield Avenue, the suspect entered the property between 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on September 1. The video captures him enjoying the pool and then moving to the hot tub, where he appears to have developed a strong attachment to the rubber duck, interacting with it for over ten minutes.
Police mentioned that while the exact nature of his actions towards the duck was not detailed, a grainy image from the security footage suggests he was holding it unusually close to his face—though the specifics remain unclear.
After his lengthy stay, the suspect exited the premises on a bicycle, having taken several luxury beach towels valued at a total of $1,200. Witnesses or anyone familiar with the individual seen in the released images are encouraged to reach out to law enforcement.
