Incident at St. Louis Airport
On Friday morning, a knife-wielding individual was shot and killed at St. Louis Lambert International Airport after ignoring police commands to drop the weapon, according to authorities.
The St. Louis County Police Department reported that the officer-involved shooting happened around 1:05 a.m. during a routine security check at Terminal 1, where officers encountered the suspect. After refusing to comply with orders, an officer attempted to subdue him with a taser. Yet, the suspect continued to approach, prompting a second officer to fire his weapon, ultimately striking the man, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
As for the officers involved, they had been with the STL Airport Police Department for six months and a year, respectively, and possess prior law enforcement experience.
In a separate incident, a passenger on an Atlanta flight discovered a loaded magazine marked with unusual characters and immediately contacted the FBI.
St. Louis County Police’s Crimes Against Persons Bureau is currently looking into the airport incident. Fox News Digital has sought comments from St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
Potential TSA Policy Changes
The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed. Rhonda Hamm Niebrugge, the airport’s CEO, commented on the tragic event, stating that while it was unfortunate for the airport community, they were proud of how quickly law enforcement responded and that regular operations resumed promptly.
During this time, the Terminal 1 MetroLink station was closed for about three hours, requiring shuttle buses to transfer passengers to Terminal 2. The airport is working closely with the St. Louis County Police in their ongoing investigation.
