Investigation into Suspicious Activity Surrounding Nancy Guthrie

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is looking into reports of suspicious activity in the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrie, as confirmed on Friday. Guthrie is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-host of Today, and has maintained a low profile amid the ongoing investigation that has revealed few details.

When asked about recent reports concerning a nearby home that had recently been vacated, a spokesperson refrained from confirming specific individuals linked to the investigation. “I can tell you law enforcement is looking into something suspicious in the area,” she stated.

In a separate case, DNA testing is still being conducted following the alleged kidnapping of an 84-year-old woman from her home in Catalina Foothills on February 1—over 47 days ago. Authorities have acquired further images from Guthrie’s home surveillance system, but no new footage of the suspect has surfaced yet, as efforts to retrieve additional videos are ongoing.

Authorities also haven’t confirmed if the masked individual seen at Guthrie’s door acted alone. They played down recent claims that investigators had found footage of Guthrie’s last Uber ride on the day she went missing. A spokesperson noted, “We have not been made aware of any additional videos identified in this investigation,” and emphasized that the Uber driver had been interviewed but was not considered a suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that it seems Guthrie was taken against her will. Her son-in-law had dropped her off at her residence the night before she disappeared. Early the next morning, a masked man appeared at her door.

Additionally, a sync between her pacemaker and her Apple device around 2:30 a.m. suggested a potential timeframe for her removal from the property. Unfortunately, authorities have yet to arrest a suspect or locate her.

Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI, as rewards totaling over $1.2 million have been offered for information leading to a resolution in the case.
