Auto dealers face software outage after provider hit by cyber incidents

CDK Global, a company that provides software to car dealerships, has been hit by a second cyber incident within days, causing a nationwide outage.

The company notified dealers that it was “again proactively shutting down the majority of our systems” in response to an “additional cyber incident” that occurred Wednesday night.

The company said in an email to customers that the incident will mean its “dealer systems” will be offline until at least Thursday as it works with “third-party experts” to determine the impact.

This is the second cyber incident that CDK Global has disclosed this week, with the first reported on Wednesday also causing the company to take its systems offline temporarily.
