Autopsy reveals French streamer Jean Pormanove's death during livestream 'not caused by trauma'

An autopsy has revealed that French streamer Jean Pormanob did not succumb to trauma after he passed away during a 12-day live stream on the platform Kick.

The man, whose real name was Rafael Graven, was discovered dead in a rented apartment in Contes, a village near Nice, France, on August 18th. He was just 46 years old.

Reports suggest he had been “humiliated and abused” by a group of men also streaming for large audiences. Graven was found with puzzling bruises on his body, according to a report.

The cause of death has been deemed “not traumatic and not related to third-party intervention,” according to the local prosecutor’s office.

Prosecutor Damien Martinelli stated on Thursday that forensic examinations found “no internal or external traumatic injuries” or signs of burns.

“The potential causes of death seem to be medical or toxicological,” he added.

A French newspaper reported that prosecutors noted Graven had a history of heart issues and was receiving thyroid treatment.

Martinelli mentioned that police had questioned numerous individuals who were present at the time of his death.

“To get clarity on what occurred before his passing, the equipment and video from the stream have been seized as part of the investigation,” he noted.

A French government minister previously indicated that Graven had experienced “humiliation and abuse,” as he suffered “terror” and violence from other men who broadcasted their activities to thousands of viewers.

Past live stream footage showed other men engaging in acts like choking, strangling, and using paintball guns on him.

The minister has reached out to French media regulators to address the alarming situation.

“Justice will take its course to investigate and clarify the tragic events surrounding Jean Pormanob’s death,” she stated.

Graven had over 500,000 followers across his social media platforms, gaining significant popularity with his gaming videos.

His death was tragically confirmed in an Instagram post by fellow streamer Owen Cenazandotti, who asked everyone to honor Graven’s memory and not dwell on his final moments. “My brother, my partner for six years, I love you. We will miss you dearly,” he said.

Graven’s last moments were reportedly broadcasted during a marathon live stream, where he was seen lying on a mattress, mostly covered by a duvet. When the other streamers woke up, they noticed he was “in a really strange position” and quickly cut the live stream, trying to awaken him.
