‘Badly Abused’ Arkansas Dog Finds New Home After Nearly 500 Days in a Shelter

An Arkansas rescue dog who was “horribly abused” in his previous home has found a new dog after spending nearly 500 days in a shelter.

The Best Friends Animal Society in Bentonville told FOX 4 News that young Neo was rescued by local police in 2022 after receiving a report that he was being abused. “I was horribly abused.” Under the care of the owner.

Neo then spent 468 days at a North Little Rock animal shelter while awaiting his case in court.

“Neo was injured, scared and understandably defensive, but the staff at the shelter showered him with love and care throughout his stay, which helped him overcome his social phobia and make him feel loved. We were able to accept him,” the animal society told the magazine.

Eventually, the shelter released Neo to Best Friends Pet Resource Center, where he was then placed with a “loving and patient” foster family.

After “spending some time” with them, Neo was placed in an adoptive family that “understood his past and was willing to accommodate his needs,” the association said.

The organization says Neo is still loved by the staff at his old shelter and was handed over to his new home along with a card signed by all the staff.

The card was originally hung in his doghouse to “let all visitors know that no matter what Neo was going through, he was loved there.”
