Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have decided to dispel ongoing rumors about their marriage amidst speculation about a potential split, particularly since they haven’t been frequently seen together lately.

The couple, often considered the original first family, shared some light-hearted conversation on a recent episode of Michelle’s podcast, which pokes fun at their three-decade-long relationship. Michelle, 61, mentioned how Barack, 63, made time for her despite his busy schedule, remarking that they were “honored” to be together.

Barack humorously added, “She took me back,” in response to comments from Michelle’s brother, Craig Robinson, who expressed his relief to see them together, joking that when they’re apart, he thinks they might be divorced.

To further quiet the chatter, Barack shared some cute photos on social media. The rumors intensified after Michelle skipped notable events this year, like the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and President Trump’s inauguration.

Michelle was quick to assert during the podcast that she never considered ending their marriage, stating, “We were really struggling. We’ve had so many fun times, so many adventures.” She expressed gratitude for how their relationship has helped her grow.

Though the duo has been spotted less frequently in public, they still uphold a united front. They had dinner together at the busy Osteria Mozza in Washington, DC, after not being seen since December when they left a restaurant in Los Angeles.

They have shared rare glimpses of their life together on social media for special occasions, with Michelle praising Barack as her “rock.” During the podcast, Craig also recounted an amusing encounter with a fan who was concerned about their relationship, sharing how relieved she was to learn they were still together.

Barack admitted to being somewhat oblivious to the swirling rumors. “Someone will mention it to me because I don’t even know that this is going on, and I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?'” he remarked.

Michelle has frequently addressed the speculation, clarifying that the lack of public appearances doesn’t indicate troubles in their partnership. She noted that being 60 and not being under constant public scrutiny means people might jump to conclusions without knowing the full picture.
