“But the warning that you're joining the government is that someone has to run a bar stool. You can't run a bar stool and work for the government. I guess Elon. [Musk] There's no specific title, but you want a CEO with an eye on the ball, right? ”
Before explaining the phone, Portnoy raised questions about Musk's job as Tesla's CEO during the Trump administration, performing his duties with Doge, the government's efficiency department.

“One of the things Elon and I wonder about is clearly Tesla CEO and he does all this dog stuff, and I think that's good,” Portnoy said. “Take away government waste, I'm for that. But how do you run Tesla when you're working 24/7 on Doge?”
Returning to the phone he received, he said Portnoy was just that.
“By the way, even if I wanted to do that, they never followed up,” he said. “They said, 'You can find someone to run the bar stool and tell me if they're interested. If they're interested, I'll call you in a week for the next step.' It was strange because it never happened. ”
