Erin Bates’ family is rallying around her after she was struck by sepsis following a challenging birth while in intensive care.
Payne gave birth to her seventh child, Henry Blythe, on August 25th. The couple shared on Instagram that it was a “long emotional labor.” They posted a sweet picture of Erin beaming while holding her newborn, acknowledging that she was “still recovering from some complications.”
On September 1st, Erin’s husband, Chad Payne, provided an update indicating she was in the ICU. He described her labor as longer and tougher compared to her previous experiences, saying, “She has fought through it, and it was a light and sweet testimony of grace for the nurses, staff, and doctors. We are all moved by her kindness and gratitude in the pain.”
Chad added that Erin had developed a severe urinary tract infection, which escalated into septic shock. He expressed their hope for prayers for Erin, calling her “a beautiful girl who is such a light in the dark world.” He reassured that their new son, Henry, is doing well.
“A week has passed since our miracle, and Henry has come into the world. He’s doing well in the NICU and is a bundle of happiness,” he shared.
The Bates Family’s official Instagram account also highlighted Erin’s positive influence, noting that “all nurses adore her.”
The family has not provided any updates since early September.
In the reality TV series about the Bates family, “Bring Up Bates,” Kelly Jo Bates and her 19 children were featured, emphasizing Christian faith and family life. The show ran for ten seasons from 2015 to 2021, attracting a strong following from audiences interested in faith-based family content.
Septic shock is a serious condition resulting from a severe infection that can lead to dangerously low blood pressure and widespread organ failure.
