Bears will be without TJ Edwards for the remainder of the season

Chicago Bears’ TJ Edwards Injured During Playoff Game

The Chicago Bears demonstrated a strong defensive showing in their playoff matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, holding them to just six points in the second half. Ultimately, though, the game turned into a significant victory for the Bears, ending 31-27.

However, the game took a troubling turn when linebacker TJ Edwards suffered a serious foot injury during the second quarter. He left the field in an air cast, and Bears head coach Ben Johnson later provided an update on Edwards’ condition for the rest of the playoffs.

Johnson indicated that Edwards “appeared to have a fibula fracture,” which sadly means he will miss the remainder of the season.

The injury occurred when Edwards’ left foot became trapped with Packers receiver Christian Watson, causing a worrying bend in his leg.

Despite playing only ten games this season due to previous injuries, Edwards had a notable impact, recording 67 tackles, half a sack, five pass breakups, and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. This marked his third year with the Bears.

He joined the team in 2023 after spending his first four NFL years with the Philadelphia Eagles, having entered the league as an undrafted free agent from Wisconsin.

In April, Edwards signed a two-year contract extension with the Bears, solidifying his role as a defensive starter since his arrival.
