This was quite an outrageous move.
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their victory over the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), players from the Belgian national team decided to have a bit of fun by imitating President Donald Trump’s well-known dance. This playful moment took place on Monday night during the round of 16 match.
Earlier, FIFA announced that U.S. forward Folarin Balogun, who had received a red card in a previous match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, was cleared to play against Belgium, which upset some in the Belgian camp.
The Belgian team expressed dismay over FIFA’s decision to lift the suspension. The Royal Belgian Football Association reacted with concern, intrigued by FIFA’s unexpected move and stating they were considering “all possible options” to uphold their team’s rights.
President Trump weighed in, urging FIFA President Gianni Infantino to reassess the situation regarding Balogun’s red card. He suggested Belgium ought to be proud if they secured a win in the match. “If we had won the game without those players, it would have been a different feeling,” Trump remarked, adding he was pleased with the outcome.
As one might expect, the USMNT faced a stinging 4-1 defeat, and the Belgian team didn’t shy away from celebrating their victory. After scoring their fourth goal, they executed the Trump dance, which felt like a sharp jab at the American side and, honestly, it was a bit painful to watch.
Time’s ticking:
After that decisive fourth goal, the Belgian players showcased their version of Trump’s dance. It was a pretty bold statement, especially considering it happened on U.S. turf, following Trump’s call for FIFA to look into the red card situation.
We played well 🤝
If we don’t win one more game, we risk falling to a formidable opponent like Spain. That really instills some fear.
