When the pair first started dating, it wasn't immediately clear. Several other tennis stars commented on the post, suggesting that people in the tennis community may already be aware of the relationship.

Rodman responded to her daughter's comments in a post about her social media apology, but Trinity, who plays for the Washington Spirit, is National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), called it a “joke.”
Trinity was previously linked to NFL free agent Trinity Benson in 2024.
