After all, Joe Mixon won’t be a free agent.
On Monday night, it was reported that the Bengals released Mixon and signed Zack Moss to a two-year, $8 million contract.
Instead, NFL Network reported Tuesday morning that the Bengals will trade the 27-year-old running man back to the Texans.
It’s unclear what the Texans sent back to the Bengals for Mixon.
Mixon will make $5.75 million next season.The final year of his contract includes a $3 million roster bonus, due Sunday, according to NFL Network.
Whether it’s better to be traded than released depends on what happens in the market for Mixon.
Aaron Jones, the Packers’ replacement for Josh Jacobs, is a similarly talented running back who was signed by the Vikings to a one-year, $7 million contract on Tuesday.
Mixon will replace Devin Singletary, who signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract with the Giants on Monday.
