Joe Burrow’s Injury in Bengals Game Against Jaguars
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow sustained a toe injury that forced him to leave the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Bengals’ offensive line struggled to manage the Jaguars’ aggressive pass rush. In the second quarter, this pressure led to Burrow’s injury after he was tackled.
Burrow seemed to hit his helmet on the ground beside Jaguars’ Aric Armstead and showed visible discomfort. After lying on the field for a bit, he tried to get up but couldn’t bear weight on his leg.
Once the Bengals’ defense took down Trevor Lawrence, it was Jake Browning who took over the offense instead of Burrow, who needed assistance walking to the locker room.
Burrow ended the game with 76 passing yards, completing 7 out of 13 attempts, and threw one touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase.
Despite Burrow’s departure, Browning rose to the occasion, leading Cincinnati to a comeback victory later in the fourth quarter. After a critical defensive stop near the goal line, Browning orchestrated a 92-yard drive that concluded with a 1-yard touchdown run, giving the Bengals a 31-27 lead with just 18 seconds remaining.
In a dramatic match, Lawrence couldn’t make a significant impact in the last moments, sealing the Bengals’ record at 2-0 for the season, while Jacksonville fell to 1-1 after winning their opening game.
Chase had an impressive performance, making 14 catches for 165 yards, not to mention a touchdown. Browning did throw three interceptions, but he also connected for two touchdown passes to Mitchell Tinsley and Tee Higgins.
As the Bengals celebrate their victory, there’s hope and concern regarding whether Burrow, who was the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year, will be fit to return for their next game.
