Moreno Warns of Potential Democrat Control Consequences
During a recent roundtable discussion hosted by Breitbart News, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) expressed concerns about the implications of a Democrat-led Congress for President Donald Trump’s initiatives and state voter ID laws.
Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow initiated the conversation by probing into what actions Republicans might take to safeguard Trump’s agenda if they were to lose control of Congress, highlighting the significance of the upcoming election.
“We might as well accept the full impact of this and shift our focus to the 2028 presidential race and congressional elections,” Moreno remarked. “Eventually, there could be a Supreme Court vacancy, and Democrats likely won’t allow us to fill it.”
He continued, “They could initiate a lengthy impeachment process, which might compel some cabinet members to quit due to unbearable pressure, resulting in our inability to confirm any replacement nominee.”
Moreno warned that, under such circumstances, Trump’s legislative agenda would face “zero chance” of success.
“There’s also the possibility that instead of the Save America Act, they could implement policies making voter ID laws unlawful in the 32 states where they are currently in effect. That’s really their goal,” he added.
He pointed to California as an example, stating, “Their gas prices are sky-high, not because of international crises, but due to policies aimed at raising those prices and phasing out fossil fuels.”
Moreno raised further alarms, stating that Democrats would be ready to open borders once Trump leaves office and if they reclaim the presidency, which would represent a significant setback for the country.
Reflecting on political history, he noted, “Think back to Bill Clinton, who we considered unacceptable at the time. Then came Obama, who made Clinton seem favorable, followed by Biden, who made Obama appear better. And now, there’s Kamala Harris, improving Biden’s image. Just imagine what’s next.”
He mentioned potential future leaders by name, like Talarico and Ossoff, suggesting they could represent the party’s ideals.
Moreno also criticized a specific candidate running against Tom Cotton, who allegedly claimed a preference for hiring illegal immigrants over American citizens, calling it a troubling stance.
“This signals a return to extensive federal involvement, tax increases, and control over healthcare,” he explained.
In conclusion, Moreno acknowledged that while Trump would staunchly defend his agenda for two years, he questioned whether the country could withstand the chaos that might ensue. “I don’t think we want to see that,” he stated.
