Sen. Bernie Moreno on Gas Prices and Democrats
Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) stated on Thursday that voters seeking lower gas prices should steer clear of electing Democrats. During an appearance on the Fight Club Roundtable hosted by Breitbart News, Moreno emphasized the need for Republicans to highlight their achievements while also recognizing the public’s worries regarding gas prices.
“We need to actively promote our successes and admit that gas prices should be lower. There’s no denying that. It’s a temporary issue that will improve once the conflict is resolved. Gas prices will drop, but if you’re frustrated about this and want prices to go down, you certainly shouldn’t vote for Democrats, as that will lead to permanently high prices. We witnessed that under Joe Biden, and it’s likely to continue with whoever takes his place,” Moreno explained.
As of Thursday, October 1, the national average for regular gasoline was reported at $4.41 per gallon, a decrease of nearly seven cents from the previous week, according to AAA. However, despite this drop, the prices remained at a record high for this time of year. The average for September was $4.33, which is 50 cents more than the previous September record of $3.83, set in 2023 during the Biden administration.
Moreno commended the Trump administration for its efforts to modernize government, reduce the federal workforce, address fraud, and lower prescription drug costs, suggesting that Republicans should talk more about these initiatives.
“We have nearly 400,000 fewer federal workers now. Even if you believe government efficiency hasn’t changed, that represents a significant and lasting tax cut for Americans. We should be able to push forward with that pace of innovation,” he stated.
Moreno also mentioned that a substantial part of progress is what the vice president is focusing on, particularly in combating fraud, which could save hundreds of billions of dollars. He expressed that many conservatives, rightly so, question what actions are underway regarding the national debt and reducing debt payments, emphasizing the need to eliminate fraud.
